Theta Tau was founded at the University of Minnesota in 1904 as the "Society of Hammer and Tongs" by Erich J. Schrader, Elwin L. Vinal, William M. Lewis, and Isaac B. Hanks. Theta Tau is the oldest, largest, and foremost Fraternity for Engineers with over 30,000 members initiated throughout the years. The official purpose of Theta Tau is to develop and maintain a high standard of professional interest among its members and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal fellowship.
We know there is a common conception that fraternities do some "hazy" things. Theta Tau has a strict no hazing policy and our rush and pledging process is built for you to get to know us. During our rush season we will hold several information sessions and a professional event to determine the students we feel uphold the values we stand by as students of Virginia Tech, brothers of Theta Tau and citizens of this world. We encourage and welcome any engineering students to come check us out!Check out the rush events
